Actuarial Valuation

This report presents the results of the actuarial valuation of assets and liabilities, as well as funding requirements, for LASERS as of June 30, 2011. It was prepared in accordance with generally accepted actuarial principles and practices and reflects the actuarial present value of accrued benefits of the system. The employer contribution rates and DROP interest rates in this report must be approved by the Public Retirement Systems Actuarial Committee (PRSAC) before they are implemented. PRSAC typically meets in January or February to review the report.

We are pleased to present the ninth Annual Investment Report for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2011. The theme of this year’s report is “Global Perspective” in which LASERS global footprint is showcased. The system began international investments more than two decades ago. At fiscal year-end 2011, international investments represented 28 percent of total plan assets with LASERS being invested in 50 countries across the globe. This report provides market and investment performance data by asset class.
