    Lagniappe Guide to Retirement

This booklet contains general information about the LASERS benefit package, Direct Deposit information, retirement planning information, websites of interest to LASERS members and retirees, insurance vendors, a personal data organizer, a retirement planning checklist for state employees nearing retirement, and a 12-month retirement planner.

    Optional Retirement Plan (ORP) Booklet

    RSEA Brochure

Interested in enjoying being involved as a retiree in an organization designed specifically for you? The Retired State Employees Association of Louisiana (RSEA) is the main lobbying group representing Louisiana state retirees. Its two main concerns are: (1) protecting the pension checks of retirees and (2) insuring that retirees have access to affordable and effective health care. This brochure also contains information on how to join RSEA.

Social Security: The Windfall Elimination Provision and Government Pension Offset

Employees of the State of Louisiana who are members of LASERS are not required to pay Social Security tax (certain exceptions do apply). However, if you are entitled to a Social Security benefit (either your own from a previous employment or a spouse's/widow(er)'s benefit), that benefit may be reduced because of the Windfall Elimination Provision or the Government Pension Offset. Your LASERS benefit will not be reduced.  Read here to see if your Social Secutiy benefit could be affected.
